Betsy Payn, MSN, Executive Director
Betsy is a nurse and has a MSN in Gerontology. She has a background in home health care and non-medical home care, hospice and palliative care. Betsy is co-founder of Looking Ahead and is an Advance Care Planning facilitator and trainer certified in the Respecting Choices® program.

Veronica E. Coyne, MD, Medical Director
Veronica is an internist and had an active practice in Doylestown for 35 years. She has always had a great interest in gerontology, palliative care and hospice. Dr. Coyne served as medical director for Doylestown Hospital Hospice for 12 years. She has been active on the Doylestown Hospital Bio-Ethics Committee and Cancer Committee. She is co-founder of Looking Ahead and is an Advance Care Planning facilitator and trainer certified in the Respecting Choices® program and its Last Steps® ACP: A POLST Paradigm Program.

Staff

All Looking Ahead staff members are certified in the Respecting Choices® program. Leslie Kuhn, MSW
Leslie received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has worked in a variety of healthcare settings including acute care, rehabilitation and hospital homecare.

Michelle Moriarty, RN
Michelle received her nursing diploma from Abington School of Nursing and has over 20 years of experience in home healthcare and wellness nursing. She has worked in various roles from nursing supervisor and wellness nurse to hospital liaison and hospice nurse.

Karen Emery MSW
Karen is a licensed social worker who received her Master’s Degree from Rutgers University. She has worked as a social worker in various healthcare settings including long-term care, gero-psych programs, hospital discharge planning, hospice and visiting nurse and most recently in the Medicare unit for an insurance company.

Melissa Lieving-Austermehle, MSW
Melissa received her MSW from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002. Working in a range of healthcare milieus, Melissa has focused on assisting individuals and families to navigate the healthcare system and honoring the diversity of those she serves.
